Restaurant in Vernazza since 1966
Opened in the spring of 1966, Taverna del Capitano is located right in the centre of Vernazza, one of the most evocative villages of the Cinque Terre. Its enviable position allows you to have a 360° view of the sea and of the typical warm and poetic colours of the landscape.
During spring and summer the warm hug of the sun is a pleasure for those who choose to enjoy an outdoor lunch overlooking the sea, in the village square; in the evening, the romantic atmosphere is perfect for couples or for a dinner with your loved ones. Those who prefer to stay indoors can enjoy the sailor-style halls with air conditioning and wifi.
The cuisine of Taverna del Capitano offers a fish-based menu prepared in different ways: marinated, baked, grilled, stewed and fried fish, according to tradition. Some traditional examples are the Tian Vernazza, an ancient local recipe, stuffed mussels, salted anchovies and anchovies seasoned with lemon. And of course, the baked stuffed vegetables.
In the first courses, the condiments range from the typical Genoese pesto, which is mandatory with the famous trofie, to the sauce with mussels or shellfish to accompany tasty noodles. The desserts are homemade and the wine cellar offers a wide selection of local brands.
Reservations are recommended.
Closed Tuesdays and seasonally from mid-November to the end of December.
