Raised by our hands in the Gulf of La Spezia since 1940

The history of Mitili & Mitili’s mussel farming is a fascinating journey through the generations, weaving together the tradition of mussel farming dating back to the 1940s with the bold exploration of oyster farming in the Gulf of La Spezia. We were among the first producers in the Gulf of La Spezia.

Our Palmaria oysters are born in the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of La Spezia, specifically on Palmaria Island, opposite the stunning Portovenere.
Our oysters follow a unique journey: from the initial pre-fattening stage, once they have reached the appropriate size, they are attached by hand to ropes, then pulled out of the water manually to replicate the effect of the tides.
They are then exposed to the sun, the moon, the wind and the elements, thus hardening themselves to withstand any challenge.

Our locations

Mitili & Mitili is now a growing reality with five venues, each with its own distinct identity yet united by a single thread: celebrating the seafood of the Gulf of Poets. It all began in 2011 in La Spezia, on Via dei Mille in the heart of the historic center, where our production lab is still based today—a true seafood boutique where fresh products are transformed into gourmet preparations to enjoy on-site or take away, from lunch to aperitif and dinner, always paired with a fine glass of wine.

The same concept was brought to Rapallo in 2020, tucked among the narrow streets of the old town, where the experience is enriched by the direct storytelling of the product and its origins, while oysters and seafood platters are prepared right before the guests’ eyes.

Expansion continued with the Lerici bistro, opened in 2025 in the heart of the village, where mussels and oysters—including the prized Palmaria—take center stage in an authentic experience featuring raw seafood, dishes, and gourmet sea sandwiches.

In Sarzana, Mitili & Mitili offers a retail-only shop, designed for those who want to bring home the full quality of the sea and recreate a gourmet experience in their own kitchen.

Completing the journey is Mitili & Mitili al Mare, located on Banchina Thaon di Revel in La Spezia—a setting that fully expresses the direct connection with the sea, where everything begins and every product comes to life.
