Cantina dell’Ara

Cantina dell’Ara, since 1959, is love for wine.

My father sold it “by the glass” at Lìdamo, the family bar now run by my brother Beppi. He devoted himself to the vineyard every day starting from five in the afternoon, when he and the other workers ended his shift at Ceramica Vaccari.
I began to dedicate myself to his land so as not to lose its memory and, year after year, the passion grew. Bottling the small amount of wine I produce with love and I like to keep the size of family farm. In this way I can follow all the phases, from the earth to the bottle, without losing sight of my main goal: to make simple and quality wines, respecting my land and its traditions.

The Winery

Cantina dell’Ara is located in the heart of the Valley of Magra, in Santo Stefano di Magra, Ponzano.
This valley, between Liguria and Tuscany, is rich in picturesque villages, where, between walls and castles, there are many vineyards where you can breathe the ancient knowledge and the tradition of viticulture.
History speaks of viticulture in Val di Magra since ancient times. Vermentino is the most typical white grape variety in the area. In Liguria its presence is testified since the Middle Ages: for this reason it is to be considered as an autochthonous variety to be valued and safeguarded.
